A valiant effort!
The final score was not indicative of the boys efforts against Twin Centre today. A few bad bounces and unlucky breaks shouldn't take away from the hard work the LL3 Lions put into their game.
The forwards pressed hard in the Twin Centre end and produced several good scoring chances. There were a number of times that the boys had the puck within inches of resting behind the opposing goalie only to be thwarted at the last possible moment. Fore checking and back checking right to the final whistle, the front line put their all in right until the final buzzer sounded.
In their own zone, the defense fought hard to try and snuff out the Stars attack. Clearing the puck hard out of the zone and working to keep things clear in front of their own net may not have worked out on the score sheet but bode well for games to come.
Finally the Marc-Andre Fleury clone in the Husky net was a constant flash of leather. The blocker, stick and glove were all in constant motion and robbed the opponents of a bunch of quality scoring chances.
Looking at the final result in numbers only would be a great disservice to the heart of 14 boys who left it all out on the ice today. Judging from the wet hair, rosy cheeks and giant smiles in the dressing room afterwards it was very evident that the kids had a good time and played with passion.
That's all we could ever hope for!
