Huskies Gain Experience in Glencoe
by Lori Spoltore
The Josslin Insurance LL#3 PeeWee Huskies had an action-filled weekend in the Southwest Bullet Tournament hosted in Glencoe on the weekend.

The boys played hard and gained valuable experience as they faced tough teams from West Lorne, Wallaceburg and East Lambton.  Unfortunately, the Huskies were winless on the weekend.  Some highlights included first time goals from Mason Wagner and Brandon Jantzi.  Wagner's goal was a true testament to work ethic and determination as he kept the puck with him after a physical battle through several aggressive Wallaceburg players to take it to the net.  He then shot the puck hard and it found the mesh.  Jantzi also had a beautiful goal as he persevered and dunked one in against East Lambton.  Charlie Slessor scored in round robin play after a gorgeous cross-ice pass from teammate Jack Weiler.  The defensive play in the tournament by Alex Gruhl and Joseph Heise was notable, as was the hustle shown by Ryan Hillar, Weiler and Marcus Scheid.  The Huskies played with class and determination and should be proud of their efforts.  The games were extremely physical and the teams they faced had several second year players with more experience in body contact.  The Huskies did not give up and played to the final minutes of the games, especially Logan Arnott and Evan Pfaff.  Special congratulations to Matthew Krmpotic as he faced difficult scenarios and blistering shots from the point - many of which ended up at the blue line after pelting his goalie pads.  This week the New Hamburg team will face Embro on Monday night at 8:00 pm and St. George at 1:00 pm on Saturday.  Both games are at home @WRC.   GO HUSKIES!
