Still alive in our streak of 5!
Another Saturday morning, another great effort by the boys! All in all, their best performance to date against a well balanced LL3 team and their incredible goalie.
Everyone's fantastic effort, excellent passing and great positional play was the key to success. A lot of highlights this week!

The boys came out of the gate with speed and determination and all cylinders firing. They needed every bit of effort to compete against the strong LL3 team and their hot goalie. The first period brought forth a number of quality scoring opportunities by both lines, but no one could could solve the quick reflexes of the LL3 goalie. The game remained scoreless for the first half of the period until Brendan Gerber swung around behind the LL3 net drawing in the defense and then fed a perfect past into the slot to Riley G who ripped it into the back of the net for the first goal of the game. The effort of the boys was incredible as the action went back and forth. Our defense was diving to keep the puck in the offensive zone and blocking shots in our end. Max Berry seemed to be all over the ice taking time and space away from all opposing players.
The second period was much like the first as both teams had great opportunities to score. Riley C was stellar between the pipes on a huge breakaway save to prevent the opposition from gaining momentum. It took over half the second period in order for the boys to finally pot another goal. Cohen Christner passed the puck deep into the offensive zone to Riley Gerber behind the net, who faked one direction and slipped the puck into the empty side of the net for his second goal of the game. That seemed to spark the up the offense as Brendan took a nice pass from Bryson Hughes and rifled a wrister from the faceoff circle that found mesh. Less than a minute later, Brendan bolted in on a breakaway and buried another.
It didn't think the boys would have much in the tank for the 3rd, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Cameron Dubrick stepped it up and made some defensive stops and Stu Hartman had the backcheck of the game when he caught up to an opposing winger on a total breakaway and picked his pocket! On the same play Sammy Schaub gathered the puck at the boards and fed an amazing center ice pass up to Brendan who was wide open and slammed the puck into the net for the hat-trick. Jayden C was solid in the crease as he pounced on multiple pucks allowing the tired lines to change. Owen Donkers was a force all game as he rang the puck off multiple posts in the 1st and 2nd period. Hard work paid off as Owen sniped a sweet back-hand goal as time was expirying.
Great game had by all! Keep up the hard work! -- JG
