The Boys Bounce Back In League Play
HL2 Boys bounce back to their winning ways as they recover from their recent Exhibition Game and Clifford Tourney Losses.
It was great to see the “giddy up” in the step of the boys as they faced off against a solid New Hamburg HL 3 team this past Saturday. The boys displayed a great collective effort as they put another point in the win column.

Game details enclosed.

The first period started out fast and furious as the boys tested the opposing team’s net minder straight out of the gate. Multiple shots were kicked away in every direction stifling our pressing offense. It wasn’t until midway through the period when Owen picked up a beauty pass up the middle from Max and buried a perfectly placed snapshot for the first score of the game. 2.5 minutes later, Brendan got on the board with a coast to coast rush and made no mistake on his wrister that found mesh. The boys were up 2 goals and yet their pressure never wavered. With 20 seconds left, Owen’s relentless pressure in the neutral zone caused an opposing forward to cough up the puck. Owen scooped up the loose biscuit and sniped his second goal of the game unassisted. The period expired with a score of 3-0

The second period turned out to be an end to end battle. Our defense did a great job swatting the pucks away from the front of our net and ripping the puck up the boards to the waiting wingers. Text book plays, just as they were drawn up. The only scoring action of the period came from a tic-tack-toe pass play that couldn’t have been executed better anywhere. Everyone was in their “spots” as Max dug out the puck from the offensive corner and got it to Owen at the half boards, who zipped a pass into the slot where Mathew did the rest by ripping it past the goalie. Great play!! The period expired with a score of 4-0.

The 3rd period was much like the second with a lot of defensive play. The opposing goalie completely stoned the boys on multiple breakaways. At our end Sasha and Stu were standing the rush up at our blue line not letting any shots into our end. Any shots that made it to our goal crease were deflected away by Jayden and Riley who earned yet another shut out! The icing on the cake was when there was less than a second left on the clock, Owen snapped a sneaky shot that trickled past the goal line to complete the hat trick. This line was on fire all game and was rewarded with multiple goals.

Great game by everyone! Keep digging for the puck and continue working together as a team!
