HL2 Notch Another “W”
Total team contribution resulted in a well-earned victory over a solid HL3 Team.

1st period – Both teams came to play right off the draw. The puck went end to end for most of the period as both teams got their chances to score. The only goal of the period for our boys came off a pass up the boards from Stu to Brendan. Brendan broke free and ripped a wrister just under the crossbar for the opening goal. 2 minutes later, HL3 bounced back with a breakaway and scored to tie the game. 1-1 after 1.

The second period was an all-out assault led by Brendan Gerber. Brendan stepped way up and popped 3 goals in the period as assists went to Cohen, Sam and Stu. If not for the solid HL3 goaltending, this game could have gotten away as he stoned most of our scoring chances and frustrated our offense. Our D was also in on the action as an impressive defensive play went to Cohen as he made a diving play from behind a streaking opposing forward and was able to bat the puck away and stymied the breakaway. More defensive plays by Cameron, Sasha and Bryson as they continuously cleared the puck away from the front of our net. The period ended with a 4-1 score.

3rd period – More good defensive play in this period. It was great to see all our forwards back-checking to help out the defense. The back-checking was the key in our penalty kill situation, not to mention it allowed Stu to pinch in and steal a loose puck in which he rifled a hard shot into the mesh for the final dagger to finish the game. Riley and Jayden continue to shut down any and all players who try to score on our team. This was another solid performance between the pipes. Great job guys!

Final Score 5-2.
