Novice House League 4 Off to Strong Start to Season!
Coach Nathan Roth and his entire coaching staff couldn’t be prouder of the HL 4 Team.  It’s hard to believe it was only a couple of months ago that these young boys came together to learn and play the great Canadian game of hockey.  It’s amazing how far they’ve come in such a short time.

With only 4 games into the season, they are emerging as serious challengers in a very competitive Novice House League Division.  Although still searching for their first win, each game has been very close and could have gone either way.  That win will no doubt come soon as the boys continue to work hard each week.

In the season opener against HL 3, Ty Pfaff displayed his dazzling offensive skills by netting two second period goals, with one of those set up nicely by Quinn Ernst.  Goalie Ross McIntyre kept the game close by making several amazing saves.  While just coming short in a 3-2 loss, it was a hard fought battle.

Likewise in Game 2, our other goalie Travis Forler kept his team in the game as he dealt with an onslaught of shots from a rival House League team.  Zach Becker, Ryan Cutting, Caden Horrell, Ethan Brooker and Moir Forde all had a strong game as well.

Game 3 had our team playing against HL 2, perhaps the toughest team in the Division.  In the 1st period, Stuart Lencz thrilled the crowd by taking the puck up the ice, making a few nifty moves and taking a beautiful shot to the top corner.  Although the game ended in a 4-1 loss, the boys never gave up against this tough team and played hard every minute of the game.

With each game these boys are getting hungrier for a win. Game 4 showed just how hungry they were and it was a thriller!  In a rematch against HL 3, Lencz opened up the scoring in the first after receiving a nifty pass from Maddux Snyder.   Known as the “twin towers” at defence, Aaron Albrecht and Matthew Smith both did a great job on the blue line to help keep the game tied going into the third.  Non-stop action continued into the third with HL 3 taking an early lead but that didn’t deter our boys.  Pfaff found an opening and netted his third goal of the season to tie the game.   It looked like we were heading for overtime but with only a few minutes remaining HL 3 scored to take the win.

The entire HL 4 squad can definitely keep their heads very high and be proud.  We’ll get em next week and as Coach Roth says to remember “Whose puck is it?”  Keep working hard boys and have lots of fun each game… you’re doing fantastic!
