Novice A Regional Silver Stick Champions
Novices Win Regional Silver Stick Title! - submitted by Mike Eichler
This weekend the Erb Transport Novice A Huskies won their regional Silver Stick Tournament in Brampton.
2-0 and 6-0 wins against Woolwich and Brampton gave the boys 1st place and a quarter final bye, giving them a much needed day off Saturday. It also set up an 8:15am semi final against Caledon Sunday, but the boys are used to morning skating and after a tight checking 1st period, they came out firing and won 6-1.
The final was against a familiar foe Woolwich and it was a back and forth game. After 2 periods the Huskies were only up 1-0 but once again showed their depth, took care of their own end, got some great saves in net and took advantage of the skills they know and learned this year and scored 3 more unanswered goals to take the final 4-0.
Great coaching and a cheering crowd of families and friends at the rink are very proud of the boys as they went 18-1 goals for and against, and continued their sportsmanship and Husky pride! The boys now travel to St.Clair Shores in Michigan for the International Silver Stick January 24-26 to try to bring home the coveted title.
