Huskies Shake The Shamrocks!!
By Jeff Porchak: The New Hamburg Atom AE Huskies had the luck of the Irish on Monday night, opening the Tri-County League Championship finals with a 3-1 win over the Hespeler Shamrocks.
Colton Porchak opened the scoring in the 1st and Braden Pfaff added what would prove to be the game-winner in the 2nd. Hespeler answered back to cut the lead to one but Jordan Hopkins made some key saves and kept the Huskies in front. Presley Schaub scored the third Huskies' goal for insurance but the Shamrocks stayed competitive. With the extra attacker, the Shamrocks battled but the Huskies stayed strong with all three lines of forwards and all defencemen working hard in both ends to close out the game and preserve the two-goal lead for the win. The Huskies and Shamrocks have back-to-back games this weekend, with Game 2 in Hespeler on Saturday and Game 3 on Sunday at the Wilmot Rec Centre.
