The New Hamburg Atom AE Huskies are one win away from clinching the Tri-County Championship after a 3-1 win on Saturday night in Hespeler against the Shamrocks!!
Aaron Geiger opened the scoring in the first, lifting up a rebound before Hespeler evened the score on the power play. Linemate Colton Porchak made it a two-goal lead in a similar fashion, knocking in a rebound close to the crease to put the Huskies back on top to end the first period. The second period was scoreless but the Huskies got an insurance marker from Brendan Larocque in the third to establish a two-goal margin. In a carbon copy from the previous game, the Shamrocks pulled the goalie for an extra skater but all Huskies contributed to protect the house and netminder Jordan Hopkins kept that two-goal lead intact. With one more victory needed to win the series, the Huskies are gearing up to clinch it at home on Sunday, at 4:30. (Optimist - WRC). Come out and cheer us on!!!
