Tri-County Champions!
By Jeff Porchak...Congrats to the New Hamburg Atom AE Huskies! They are the 2013-2014 Tri-County League Champions!
The Huskies notched three straight wins in the final against the Hespeler Shamrocks to clinch the championship, with a decisive 5-2 victory in front of a fabulous home crowd at the Wilmot Rec Centre. Leading the way for the Huskies on Sunday was Brendan "George" Larocque, who recorded a hat trick. Presley Schaub added a pair for New Hamburg.The Huskies played solid hockey in both zones, leading to great chance for each line. The defense core also kept Shamrock chances to a minimum, with Jordan Hopkins providing his usual excellent work in keeping the puck out of the net. A ton of credit goes to coaching staff -- Dan Geiger, Scott Pfaff, James West, Morris Eddy and Glen Blier -- for managing and developing the Huskies into such a solid two-way team. Great job Huskies, congratulations and thank you for such an enjoyable season! (and thanks to Jeff Porchak for the fabulous game updates;))
