Woolwich Challenge Cup
We entered the Woolwich Challenge Cup this past weekend, an ongoing tradition for our organization. It attracts some of the top Novice and Atom teams from Southern Ontario and delivers tight competition right from the first puck drop.

We had a full weekend in Woolwich, kicking off Friday night versus Woolwich LL1. After a very close battle we traded goals in the last two minutes of the third period and settled for a tie. Saturday morning, we faced our old nemesis Woolwich LL4 who we have had increasing success against with each game we play them. This game, we had some bad bounces and ended up on the wrong side a higher scoring affair as the Wildcats were hungry and looking to stockpile goals in this format where goal differential is a big factor.
We continued to play well as a team and dominated our next opponent Saturday and also Sunday, getting some of the best individual performances from our boys this year and continuing to improve at all positions while still working as a tight team unit.
After four games in three days we produced as solid 2-1-1 record and although that didn't qualify us for the medal game, we received very good feedback from other coaches we've faced in the past and the boys impressed themselves which is the best news of all. We played, tied, lost and won as a team and everyone was an important part of that. We kept the Huskies Hammer as a team-shared award concept for the tournament and strived to be deserving of it as a team. We most definitely delivered so everyone should consider themselves winners !
