Atom LL2 Huskies Douse the Flames
The Oak Grove Cheese Atom LL2 Huskies were on the road Saturday Dec 14th to take on the Ayr Flames. The team was energized and looking for a long-awaited win. The fans were not disappointed.
It was evident early on in the game that the two teams were evenly matched as New Hamburg and Ayr provided the crowd with some up-tempo action at both ends of the rink. The Huskies hustle was evident as both forwards and defensemen were skating hard and forcing key turnovers.
Behind on the scoreboard 1-0, the Huskies continued the strong effort. Their work paid off as New Hamburg forward Owen Burns wired a shot past the opposing goalie on a nifty pass from Ben Baptie.
With the game notched 1-1 heading deep into the third period, Ryan Yost fired the puck past the Ayr goalie for the game winner.
Rock-solid defense and top-grade goaltending from Shaun Zwosta kept it close. Great job Huskies!
The team heads to Paris for an evening game Monday December 16th .
