"Hats Off" to Yost as Huskies Down St.George
The LL2 Atom Huskies were back in action to face off against the visiting St.George Generals December 28th 2013. The squad was looking to rebound on the heels of a tough loss to their LL3 Husky counterparts earlier in the week.
The high energy gameplay was evident early as both teams were going full-tilt to get a win under their belts. Huskies sniper Ryan Yost got in the action in the first period by launching one past the Generals goalie for his first marker of the game. Yost struck again in the first, converting on an assist from centreman Quinn Klasnic.
The game remained evenly matched going into the second stanza, but Klasnic asserted himself before the buzzer, with a highlight-reel goal on the opposing netminder, unassisted, to close out the second period.
The Huskies still had some gas in the tank going into the third, as Yost continued his hot-streak by netting his hat-trick goal on an assist from defenseman Jack Miller. St.George would not give up without a fight as the game was notched at 4-4 going deep into the third period. Huskies forward Owen Burns capitalized on a loose puck and rifled it into the twine to seal the deal for New Hamburg, on an assist from Ben Alles. Strong goaltending from Shaun Zwosta helped keep the home team in the game for a 5-4 Huskies victory!
