Big Win in Walkerton Tournament!
Congratulations to the boys on playing their way to the top in Walkerton!  The team started their morning with a 3-1 win, and continued with a 4-3 win against Walkerton in a double shoot out. They kept their energy, and enthusiasm and focus up,  playing hard, finishing the day as the tournament champions, winning an exciting game against Walkerton with a score of 3-1.

Early in the 2nd period in game one, Simon Van Rooyen got things going with a goal, assisted by Sam Snider and Matthew Donkers. Devon Strauss followed close behind, scoring the second goal of the game, assisted by Connor Needham and Ethan Farhood. As the game moved into the third period, the boys were reminded to stay focused as the opposing team gained control of the puck resulting in a goal. They continued playing hard until the end, as Simon Van Rooyen scored the final goal of the game, earning the Hustling Huskie award with another assist by Matthew Donkers with only a minute remaining in the game.

Energized by their win, the boys came out in game two of the tournament ready to go! Scoring three goals in the first period, they were on fire! The first goal, scored by Jonas Jarosz, assisted by Drew Weinacht came only three minutes into the game, with the second goal, scored by Simon Van Rooyen only a minute later, and the third goal not far behind, scored by Drew Weinacht.  Not to be outdone, Walkerton kept the excitement going with a goal to end the period, and two more goals in the third period, tying the game at 3-3.  In an exciting double shoot-out, the Huskies came out on top, with fabulous goal tending by Owen Roth, stopping all five shots on net (earning him the Hustling Huskie award in this game), and a winning goal, scored by Jonas Jarosz.  What a team!

The third, and final game of the day saw the team come out flying, with speed, energy and focus, scoring two goals in the first period.  The first goal, scored by Devon Strauss, and the second one, scored by Simon Van Rooyen, assisted by Drew Weinacht, put the boys at a 2-1 advantage after Walkerton scored early in the second period.  Drew Weinacht took home the Hustling Huskie award in this game for his perseverance as he kept going even though his opponents were hard on his trail.  With only a few minutes remaining in the second period, Ethan Farhood increased their advantage, scoring what was to be the final goal of the day, clinching the championship title in this tournament for New Hamburg Huskies Atom LL3!

Hockey is not only about scoring goals; it takes great defence, great goal tending, and team work.  Combining goal scoring today with outstanding goaltending, consisent passing and carrying by Thomas Gallie, offensive work by Jack Schmelzle and Cam Smallwood, and great defence by Nic Delange, the New Hamburg Huskies Atom LL3 showed that they have it all, playing hard for three games, and working together towards a common "goal".  Congratulations on your championship win!
