Huskies Dominate in Elmira
The Midget Husky LL2s were on the road to Elmira on January 11 to challenge the Woolwich Wildcats LL2. The Dogs were looking for a win over this team that had forced a tying decision earlier in the season.

As expected, the hosts applied early pressure that goal tender Jamie Rennick deftly turned aside. The Huskies responded with their own drive. Connor Ross working on the point, fed the puck into the slot to Eric Noseworthy. He in turn passed the puck to Brandon Tracy who teed it up from the blue line, beating the goalie and opening the scoring in favour of the visitors. Woolwich very nearly tied the contest on two occasions where they secured a 2 on 1 rush followed by a breakaway. Rennick stood on his head in net to keep his team in the lead, buying time for a turn-around. It came when Owen Houle added the second Husky point on a feed from Tyler Griffith as the period bled away. The Dogs got down to business and blew the game wide open in the second frame. Houle, making the most of a turn-over, picked a top corner  to advance the Husky total before the opposition responded. The renewed Wildcat pressure paid off and put the Dogs on edge as the physical aspect of the game went up a notch. Rennick was once again busy along with penalty killers Pat Glofcheskie, Sean Boake, Mackenzie Ryckmann and Colton Hussey. After four minutes, the Dogs returned to the offensive in spades. Tracey, getting a feed from Ryckmann, walked the puck out front and buried it to re-establish the 3-goal lead. Not satisfied, he notched a hat trick a minute later on a wrap-around getting help from Canden Addley. The attacks continued, this time Ross was the trigger-man on a pad rebound from Andrew Just. The Wildcats were reeling at the end of the period but they regrouped as the third frame got underway. Forcing the zone, they tallied on their own pad rebound putting the visitors on notice that they were still in this game. They proved the point further when they capitalized on the power-play after the Dogs incurred a minor for unsportsmanlike conduct. It looked like Woolwich was staging a comeback but the Dogs settled down, denying their hosts key opportunities. The finisher came when Addley beat the goalie through the 5-hole on a feed from Glofcheskie. It was a decisive 7 – 3 win that will help ensure an A-pool position as the team approaches the end of regular season.
