Huskies Secure 2nd Place in Regular Season
The Midget Husky LL2s were facing off against a desperate opponent on February 3. The hosting Beverly Bandits needed a win to assure an A-pool spot in the post season while the Huskies were already through that gate and were determined to improve their position.

They underlined that sentiment by securing the first goal of the game with only one minute elapsed. Eric Noseworthy potted the puck getting help from line mates Canden Addley and Andrew Just.  The opposition answered late in the frame when the Dogs drew a tripping minor, capitalizing on the power-play. The play was rough, fast and relentless going into the second with both sides delivering big hits. Robert Bowman and Addley were leading the Huskies physical charge with the rest of the team following the example. The second goal came with 2 minutes left in the period. Owen Houle set up Damian Naylor who’s persistence in front of the net paid off and advanced the Husky total. The hosts immediately rebounded and tallied two quick goals before the buzzer leaving the Huskies momentarily stunned. It was clear Beverly was in this for the win and the Dogs were on notice that there were to be no easy victories available today. The Pack doubled down in the third and retied the contest early when Addley played set-up man for Houle who’s backhand was spot-on. The Bandits were still on their heels when Just fed Brandon Tracey who then slammed in his own pad rebound to retake the lead. It was end-to-end action after that but the Huskies looked decidedly hungrier than the hosting Bandits. Tracey widened the lead late in the frame getting help from Cam Gingerich and Pat Glofcheskie. It looked like the Huskies were in the drivers seat when they went to the power-play at the two minute mark but the Bandits were desperate. They caught the Husky defense unprepared and tallied shorthanded to keep this game tight. Their final attempt was squashed by Chris Thrush who was determined to deliver the Husky win. Equally determined was Tracey who drove for the Bandit net in the dying seconds and secured a hat trick on the night. It was a convincing 6 – 4 win that cemented a second place finish in regular season league play. The Huskies now enter post-season round robin play-down action facing 3 other A-pool contenders with their first game in Paris on February 12.
