Huskies Battle in Dundas
Submitted by team reporter Al Ross.

The EJ’s Husky AE hit the ice running on September 26 when they hosted the Dundas Blues for their home opener. With only a minute elapsed, Danny Farrish potted the first point on a sprint to the net with Josh Potts and Brandon Ward riding shotgun in the effort.

The Blues were given no chance to recover and the second Husky point was tallied on the next shift. Nic Egli found Mason Wagner in front who promptly backhanded the puck past the Blues net minder to take an early 2-point lead. Back and forth play ensued with neither side finding advantage until mid-way through the second frame. The Blues made the most of a two-man advantage and registered their first point on the power play. They could not advance further in the frame due to some nice work by Sam Cull making some key saves. The opposition continued to press early in the third, and tied the contest before the Huskies turned it around. Once again, it was Ward and Potts working hard down low, finding Farrish out front who made no mistake. The game tempo accelerated and both sides were incurring penalties. Dundas, again capitalized on the power play to re-establish the deadlock making this game too tough to predict. But the Huskies weren’t done. The Dogs forced the offensive zone at the five-minute mark and a timely screened shot from the blue line by Nic Egli hit the mark. It was up to Call to solidify the 4 – 3 victory in the dying seconds as he denied the Blues a solid scoring chance. The Huskies celebrated their first regular season victory and hope to build on that momentum next week as they face Brampton and the Arthur on the road.
