Huskies End Drought in Dundas
The drought for the EJ’s Bantam AE’s ended on November 16 when they visited Dundas to do battle with the Blues. The struggling Huskies had not registered a win since their home opener but somehow they knew it would be different this particular Saturday.

Both teams looked good at the start but it was Dundas that would go to the first power-play forcing the Huskies to lock-down the defensive zone. Net minder Jaiden Deneka was tested early and denied the Blues a scoring chance that came when the Dogs were at two-man disadvantage. Further problems ensued when blue-liner Emmet Latyn headed to the bench with an injury that would sideline him for the remainder of the game. Things looked to be unraveling for the Dogs but with less than a minute left, fortune smiled on the Pack. Getting the puck in deep, Nick Dumais caught the Blues flat-footed. Mason Wagner capitalized fully on the pass and registered the first goal on a short-handed effort. The tempo of the game was ratcheted up a notch in the second with both teams deciding to play rough. Deneka’s glove hand was working well and his team responded by mounting their own offensive. Nic Egli put the puck on the Blues net followed by Ethan Field’s one-man rush. It was trench warfare after that with both sides parading to the penalty box with Dundas incurring slightly more infractions. Opportunity knocked as the frame bled away when the Huskies went to the power-play. Egli and Dale Jurica were working furiously in the forward zone and with Field jumping in to help, it was too much for the Blues goalie. He stuffed it by the pads to notch the second goal for his team with only seconds remaining in the period. It was more tough, penalty-filled action in the third but it did not stop Jurica from racing in on a short-handed drive in an attempt to advance the Husky total. The Husky defenders, Owen Ross, Joel Domm, Brandon Ward and Jurica were the flies in the Blues ointment of success. They repeatedly blunted the Blues offensive efforts and cleared the zone time and again. It was too much for the hosts and when the final buzzer went, the Dogs were sitting on a well-earned 2 – 0 shutout win. They hope to repeat the experience when they face the Brampton 45s on the road on November 18.
