Huskies Succeed On Home Ice Against Dundas
After dropping the first three OMHA games, the EJ’s Husky Bantam AEs were desperate for a win to keep their play-off dreams alive. They knew they had to beat the visiting Dundas Blues on January 23 and put everything on the line.

Action in the first period saw both teams struggle for that important first goal but the game remained a scoreless draw going into the second. The Huskies stepped up their game and chances followed. Jaiden Deneka was working well between the pipes allowing his team to get things going in the opposite end. The opener came at the 3-minute mark on some nice team play. Danny Farrish working hard in the forward zone, passed the puck back to Emmet Laytn at the blue line. The goalie never saw the rocket that puffed out the rigging but everyone on the Husky bench did. The momentum shifted permanently in favour of the hosts and the Husky tally would double at the buzzer as the second frame ended. Nic Egli walked in unchallenged and beat the Blues back-stopper getting help from Ryan Pierson and Laytn. It was all Husky in the third. Team play in the forward zone paid a third dividend when Morrissey plowed one through the 5-hole with the helpers going to Egli and Farrish. It wouldn’t get easier for the Blues when they were cited for hooking leaving them at a man disadvantage. The Huskies were remorseless and continued taking the play to the Blues net. Farrish, getting a perfect breakout pass from Owen Ross charged hard up the boards and executed a sweet centering pass to Egli who made no mistake on the play. The Blues would suffer a second shorthanded goal against when they went back to the box for slashing. The Dogs had plenty of traffic in front of the visitor’s net and this time Mason Wagner was the trigger-man with Pierson and Egli loading the cannon. The struggling Blues finally answered in the dying minutes but it was too little too late. The Huskies kept their play-off dreams alive with the decisive 5 – 1 win and will need to continue that effort in Dundas on January 26.
