Playoffs!

Feeling confident and excited after capturing the Dairy Queen Challenge Cup and being featured in the New Hamburg Independent your Huskies rolled into the playoff on an 11 game winning streak.

With a tough opponent up in LL3 your Huskies were looking to continue the roll but were up against a hot goalie as we had multiple chances to score but just couldn't bury one and LL3 came away with a hard fought well played victory. It was a tough loss considering our next 3 games were against the top two teams in the regular season.

Up first was LL1 who have only surrendered 11 goals all year so we knew it would take a lot of shots and pressure to win. Your Huskies bounced back and played arguably their best game of the season. They pressured LL1's defense and caused multiple turnovers and came away with a 3-2 victory. Goaltenders Hayden J. and Reilly C. were great keeping us in the game as well as strong fore-checking by Spencer F. and Ethan G.

Next up was a home and home vs. Beverly 1 who ran the table in the regular season going undefeated. We knew we were in tough but the boys were pumped up from the start and up for the challenge. With our new team song "My House" by Flo rida blasting in the dressing room we came out flying. With some early pressure by Beverly who must have had 10 shots all stopped with ease by Hayden J. we started to push the play. Sam W. got us on the board and the flood gates opened. Goals by Ethan G. who sniped one post and in off the draw, Kohen P. with a diving goal off a sweet pass from Josh B. on a 2-0, to nice goals from Josh and Jayden B sealed a 5-0 victory. I really could name everyone here for their contributions for the victory and that being said the hard hat for hardest worker went to the whole team. We win when the whole team works hard and they deserve it. The quote of the year candidate came from Zack K. who declared "Wow blocking shots doesn't hurt!" This came after he blocked countless shot from their big defenseman.

The next day saw Beverly 1 visit the dog house and obviously full of confidence the boys were warned that the Bandits would be a looking to rob us of a victory at home. Get it... rob us? good one coach Don (eye roll). :) Again the boys were ready and played well despite being down by 1 early on. They never wavered and took the play to the Bandits the rest of the way. Your Huskies showed some great resilience (a great life skill) despite getting into some penalty trouble, a goal called back and a penalty called with 59sec left in the third came away with a 3-2 victory. It was a fabulous effort by the boys and well deserved players of the game slushies'!

See you all on Sunday!

-Coach Don
