Eight Days, Four Games
It's been a busy stretch for the New Hamburg Peewee A Huskies, playing four games in an eight-day span.

The Huskies started that stretch with tough two-goal losses to Guelph ‎(3-1) and Milton (4-2). Forward Sam Thorne scored the lone Huskies goal against Guelph, a short-handed marker.

"We did well in the first period by skating hard, digging in the corners for pucks and making good passes. The other team had no control of the puck," said Thorne. "We weren't working as hard in the second and third periods, we turned over the pucks and weren't sticking to the game plan."

Captain Jack Wheeler, who along with Izac Blum scored for the Huskies in the game against Milton, shared a similar sentiment after Saturday's loss.

‎‎"We followed for the game plan for the first period and got some good chances. I think we should shoot the puck more and if we're down, we need to stick to the game plan and not give up."

An improved effort netted the Huskies a 2-2 tie on the road against Oakville on Wednesday night. Joey Gibson netted one and set up Blum for the other.

"We moved the puck well and got lots of good shots on net," said Gibson, who thought the Huskies could do a better job of getting the puck deeper into the offensive zone.

Back home on Thursday night, the Huskies gave up three quick goals to start the third period against the Caledon Hawks. Those goals lifted the Hawks to a 5-2 win, with Blum and Gibson replying for the Huskies.

While forward Griffin Smith felt the Huskies improved on getting the puck deep, he felt the Huskies "need to work on our passing and our work ethic."

After a frenetic week, the Huskies next see action seven days from now on Thursday, Oct. 22  at the Wilmot Rec Centre for their first regular season game against the‎ Hespeler Shamrocks. That game is the first in a home-and-home, shifting to Hespeler on Sunday, Oct. 25.
