First Real Test for Huskies
Submitted By John Donkers on Tuesday, October 13, 2015
The New Hamburg Huskies team travelled to Wellesley to take on the Twin Centre Satrs on Saturday afternoon for what turned out to be the first real test for the boys who were down two players. This resulted in some line changes which took the boys a few periods to figure out.

The game opened up with a good shift from the first line but the Stars were the first toner a goal early in the period. Shaun made several great saves to keep it a one goal game. The Huskies seemed to find a groove late in the period and were able to apply some sustained pressure but couldn't come away with a goal. The Stars managed to sneak another goal in with only a few seconds on the clock in the period.
Owen Burns took over for the missing Thomas Gallie and took a hooking period early in the second. Drew managed to figure out a tough Twin Centre goalie by going top shelf to put the Huskies on the board. Unfortunately Twin Centre answered right back to make it a 3-1 game. The Huskies managed lots of shots on net but were stopped by the posts several times. Brody made several great saves to keep it a two goal game, flashing his new leather a few times! Owen seemed to enjoy his time in the box because he took his second penalty of the game for interference. the Huskies showed their great penalty kill again and kept it 3-1. Simon capitalized on a great pass and was able to rip one past the goalie to make it a one goal game. Aidan followed up with the tying goal just 30 seconds later.
Great goaltending from both goalies and a solid penalty kill allowed the boys to come back and salvage a tie from what looked to be a lost cause. It was nice to see the boys rally and find their rhythm even if it was later in the game. Keep up the great work Huskies.
