Bantam AE Wraps Up Season
The New Hamburg Huskies Bantam AE team wrapped up their season versus a tough team from Guelph with a loss 5-3.  The Huskies worked hard and played some of their best hockey all year by staying focused on the game.  For the most part, the boys stayed out of the box, and demonstrated greater discipline and respect for the game.  The team has had a tough year due to suspensions, illnesses and injuries, but it has been one of life-lessons, friendships and growth.

Period one played even and with few whistles, and constant play; there was puck movement end to end and lots of shots on net.  Logan Arnott and Nathan Ward worked hard on the backcheck.  With a second on the clock at the end of the first, one squeaked in for Guelph giving them the lead.

The Huskies did not give up and Spencer Boshart knocked one in to tie it up.  A few minutes later Boshart found the net again.  His tireless effort and strong determination gave New Hamburg the lead.  Matthew Krmpotic stopped two breakaway attempts by the Gryphons.  Guelph suffered an injury in the second after a big hit from Tyler Wagler, with the player leaving the game.  Guelph was not ready to give up at that point either and the Huskies got into a bit of penalty trouble.  With their power play squad on, Guelph tied up the game, then took a 3-2 lead going into the third.

The third period played even again, and the Huskies gave it their all, especially Ryan Hillar, Wes Howey, and Chazen Snyder.  Tremendous hustle and hard work by Joseph Heise, and Marcus Scheid.  Guelph made the game 5-2 but with twenty-four seconds on the clock, Brandon Jantzi knocked one in with a beauty pass from Luke Aikman.  The game ended 5-3 concluding the season.  Thanks to Ward and Blake Boshart, the AP players in the game.  Also thanks to Nicholas Black, Evan Shannon, Kai Janzen, Zach Okum, Tanner and Dayton Arnott for APing for the team this year.  Cheering section for their teammates tonight included Charlie Slessor, Kyle Green, Cam Lowry and Jordan Hempey (Jack Weiler from home).

Special thanks to our team sponsor EJ's Tavern of Baden, the unending support of the parent group, and to the members of the team for their commitment this year.  The coaching staff of the Huskies including Dwane Arnott, Chris Krmpotic, Brent Hempey, Kevin Lowry, Kory Green and Lori Spoltore thank the boys for never giving up, and never rolling over, even when times were REALLY tough.  Ham sandwiches for all at a team get together soon.  Go Huskies!
