Midget LL2s Succeed At Home Against St. George
The New Hamburg Huskies Midget LL2s played host to the St. George Generals LL2 on November 28 and were keen to end a two-game skid with a victory on home ice. The visitors were equally determined to come out on top and the first period was a sample of what the Dogs had facing them.

It was back and forth action for much of the first frame with neither team finding the net. Persistence finally paid dividends for the Pack as the period wound down. Josh Potts bagged the first goal on a beautiful setup from Connor Ross with Mike Thrush getting the second helper on the play. It was a formula that proved it’s worth in the following frame as Potts with Ross riding shotgun were again posting points on the scoreboard. The Generals served notice that the game was far from over when they secured their own point a minute later on a defensive zone breakdown. The Dogs, facing a seemingly renewed opposition, dug deep in the third and took the play into the offensive zone. The Husky defense made the difference, covering the points well and creating scoring chances. Danny O’Connell found blue-liner Mason Wagner open during a cycling play and his bullet from the point resulted in a third Husky point. The fight seemed to go out of the visitors as the Dogs took control of the game. Brandon Wagler added the forth goal on a hard drive to the net getting help from Matt Sommerville and Cole Hutchison. More chances followed as the visitors incurred penalties. Incredibly, the Generals goalie staved off solid scoring opportunities during the Husky power play but succumbed when even strength play returned. Hutchison tallied the finisher with Wagler and Wagner assisting to secure the convincing 5 – 1 win. They hope to repeat the success when they host the Twin Centre Stars on December 5.
