Huskies Battle Back to Tie Woolwich 5-5
Your Atom AE Huskies hosted the Woolwich Wildcats on Thursday, October 6th in front of a rambunctious crowd.
The Huskies started the game firing on all cylinders, with Alex D scoring at the 14 second mark with assists to Trent A and Cole B. Woolwich battled back to take a 2-1 lead by the end of the first but without the solid efforts of D-men Lukas E, Caden H, Kaden G, Evan H and Luca G, it could have been much worse. In the second, the Huskies let their foot off the gas a bit and Woolwich peppered goalie Carter G with a number of shots. The line of Ellis R, Anderson A, and Tate E played great in their own end and had a number of scoring chances. Carter held his ground and after 2 it was 3-1 Woolwich. Woolwich scored another goal early in the 3rd but Finn S replied at the 3:27 minute mark, assisted by Eric M and Jacob C. Woolwich scored again to make it 5-2 but the Huskies wouldn't give up! Alex D scored a natural hat trick with 3 goals in a 5 minute span, with assists to Cole B and Evan H, to tie the game 5-5. The last 5 minutes were tense with both teams applying pressure but Carter and Co. held the fort to hold on for a well-earned tie. The coaches were very impressed with the effort and never say die attitude the boys displayed. This effort is a great step to the team's goal of being the hardest working team in their league. Next league game is Saturday in Milton against the Winter Hawks, Travis G will be between the pipes! The Atom AE Huskies will be playing at the 1st intermission of the Firebirds game tomorrow.
