LL3s Open Season With A Pair Of Wins
After opening the season with a 4 – 2 come-from-behind win on October 8 against brethren team, Huskies Midget LL1, the Huskies Midget LL3s took their game on the road to Hespeler on October 15 looking for a repeat.

The Shamrocks pressed the hometown lads hard in the first as a string of penalties prevented them from getting any offense going. Carter Schwartzentruber had to be sharp with the glove more than once to keep the match scoreless. The opener came on a shorthanded effort. A clean breakout by Owen Ross to Charlie Slessor was the catalyst for success. Slessor found Alex Wagler who wasted no time in getting the job done, sending his team into the second with a one-goal lead. The tables turned in favour for the Dogs early in the frame as Hespeler went to the box and the Pack went to the power-play. Slessor was the trigger-man on the second Husky point with Reed Cormier and Alex Wagler collecting the assists. The LL3s were finding their grove and team effort paid off with a third unanswered Husky point. Thomas Black pounded the puck through the 5-hole on a feed from Nathan Gerber with Mike Schmidt in tow. The hosts were on their heels going into the third. Repeated Husky assaults were fended off but the dam finally broke late in the frame. Ryan Pierson working in concert with Luke Aikman and Gavin Banwell, found the mark to tally the fourth Husky point. With less than two minutes of play remaining, the Pack racked up two more points. Gerber fed Colin Shannon who raced in to beat the goalie followed by Gerber’s unassisted finisher on a turnover. It was a convincing 6 – 0 shutout win but the LL3s know that tougher contests await them in the coming weeks. They intend to be prepared and look forward to the rest of the season.
