Team #5 Takes 3rd in Drayton
The New Hamburg Huskies Novice House League Team #5 traveled to Drayton for the 17th Annual Tyler Looper Memorial Novice Tournament. The Huskies got out to a quick start by defeating the host team, the Drayton Defenders 8-1. With the victory, Team #5 advanced to the semi-finals where they met the Beverly Bandits #1.
The Bandits are currently the undefeated first place team in the 16-team Grand River Local League. The Huskies fought hard and took the lead for most of the game but fell short to the Bandits 3-2. Beverley would go on to the "A" Championship while Team #5 would meet Centre Wellington Fusion in the "B" finals.
After some taking in some of the local "fast food", the boys were ready for the 3rd game of the day. Strong play, close checking, and excellent goal tending would help the Huskies over Center Wellington in a convincing 9-1 victory to clinch 3rd place in the tournament. The boys outscored their opponents 18-5 in the tournament and look to continue their winning ways on Saturday February 10th vs Team #1. Go team 5!
