MIDGET LL2 WIN HOME OPENER
The newly minted New Hamburg Huskies Midget LL2s took to the ice with confidence in their home opener against the visiting Woolwich Wildcats LL2 on October 14.

The contest began evenly enough with only one point posted by the end of the first. Owen Ross drew first blood on a turnover that he teed up at the blue line and put over the goalie’s shoulder. The Husky fore-checking game was working well in the second and the rewards came in the form of two more unanswered goals. Brayden Gingerich upped the ante by going hard to the net making the most of a feed from Ethan Norley. Closing out the period, Alex Wagler waited out the goalie and roofed a rebound with the helpers going to Ryan Pierson and Kyle Green. The Huskies owned the third frame as the visitors collapsed into their own end. The Wildcat net-minder was shown no mercy as the Dogs racked up 5 more unanswered goals in this one-sided affair. Andrew Maxwell garnered the first of the frame on an unassisted rush up the middle. Gingerich followed with another net rush getting help from Maxwell. Then it was Reed Cormier’s point shot with the assists going to Evan Pfaff and Green. The reeling visitors were unable to stop Gingerich in his quest for a hat trick on the night with line partner Maxwell riding close shotgun. The finale came from the stick of Green on a tap in feed from Wagler. It was a dominating performance by the Huskies in which Carter Schwartzentruber made 11 key saves to secure the 8 – 0 shutout win. They hope to continue the success when the travel to St. George on October 18 to take on the Generals.
