Midget LL2 Notch Win Against Ayr
Submitted by Al Ross

The Midget Huskies LL2 were anxious to add another win to their total when they hosted the Ayr Flames LL2 on December 16. The Dogs went on a blistering offensive charge right from the fist puck drop, gaining the offensive zone and testing the opposition goalie.

The first shift came close to potting one with seconds elapsed but the second shift hit pay dirt. Ryan Pierson found the mark from the slot with the helpers going to Brayden Gingerich and Brendan Arsenault. Ayr briefly found their footing and tried to answer but Zack Okum was not in the mood to allow pucks getting by him. With the Huskies back end working well, the forwards returned to the task at hand, notching more points. Alex Wagler was the instrument for the job and his unassisted end-to-end rush through traffic resulted in the score advancing in favour of the Dogs. The Flames struggle was no better in the second period as the Huskies were not done. Alex Wagler was again the trigger-man on a nice break-out from Owen Ross with Kyle Green setting things up. The game was clearly in favour of the home team as the Huskies continued to take the play into the offensive zone. The frustrated visitors were called for slashing early in the third and the Pack responded with a goal 4 seconds into the power play. Green won the face-off draw, putting it out to Arsenault who wasted no time in notching the 4th goal for his team. Ayr tried to turn things around but a single power play goal late in the frame proved too little, too late and the Huskies collected the 4 – 1 win. With a 7-2-2 record, the Huskies hope to continue winning and secure an A-pool berth when post-season action commences in mid-January.
