Jr.Firebirds win Milton Invitational Showdown Tournament
The Jr. Firebirds continued their Tournament success this weekend at the Milton Invitational Showdown Tournament.
Friday games were an up and down start as a dominant win over Milton 7-3 put the boys riding high until they met Centre Wellington who humbled them with their first loss of the season in a 2-0 score.
Saturday started the win streak again with a 6-2 win over Caledon, with everyone contributing. The semi final against Milton proved to be a challenge and the Birds took a close game to the wire......In the final 2 minutes of the game, Josh Soulliere set up Jack Walmsley on a back door beauty to seal the birth to the finals on Sunday.
The Jr.Birds set out to redeem themselves for the Friday loss, and stormed out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Cohen Christner and Barett Wilson. After a fluke goal to make it close, Wilson notched his second of the game and Toby Byrd stood tall in net for the rest of the game to bring home the hardware!
