Hello Players and Parents,
We are just over 2 weeks away from our
spring tryouts! I am looking forward to
seeing everyone then.
As you may know, full-body checking is permitted at
U14/U15 for competitive teams, players wanting to try out for U14A MUST
attend the Body Checking Clinic on Sunday, May 8 (if they haven’t already
participated in a clinic). If you do not
attend, you will not be able to participate in the tryouts.
Please check the Team Calendar for all the ice times for our tryouts.
There will be non-parent on-ice helpers and evaluators for the tryouts. All players are guaranteed 2 ice times. A roster position on this team should never be assumed. Tryouts can often be a stressful time for some players (and/or parents). The most beneficial thing we can do for the players is to support them and have them play at a level where they have the best opportunity to develop, grow and learn. It is important for parents to help manage their child’s expectations during this process.
Each player will receive a code when they arrive for their first tryout ice time on Monday, May 9 along with an information letter. I will list details on the tryout process, expectations, and team information in the letter. Please keep track of your tryout code. Releases will be found on the Tryout Player List. When you visit the website and your code is not shown then your child has been released. Players are then encouraged to try out for the U15 Rep (AE) tryouts (please check the NHHA website for more information).
I will use the team page to post additional tryout information. Rosters for each exhibition game will be posted the night before the game.
If you have a concern regarding a release, then please respect the OMHA protocol of waiting 24 hours to contact me. Please contact me via email after this time. If I receive an email before this time, I will respond when the 24-hour wait period has expired.
Best of luck during tryouts and I look forward to seeing you at the rink soon!
