Great Start to the Playoffs!
The LL3 Huskies got off to a great start in their playoffs yesterday when they hosted Embro Edge 2 in their first game of round robin play. Both teams came out strong with good chances for both teams.

The Huskies were robbed of a goal by an early whistle when the ref lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle with the puck lying on the goal line. Jonas had a great chance shortly after that but was unable to find the back of the net. Dominik was between the pipes for the Huskies and he started his game with a great save on a blast from the point. Embro kept up the pressure and had several good chances but Dominik kept the Huskies in the game. Our boys answered back with good pressure and Joey drew a tripping penalty to put the Huskies on the power play. Chazen put his first beauty in the net to open the scoring and end the period.
Chazen opened the second period with another fantastic goal. Dominik made a great save after the Huskies left an Embro player wide open in front of their net. Chazen quickly put in two more goals to take the Huskies up to 4-0. The next few minutes were hard to watch from the stands as the boys seemed to run out of gas. Embro capitalized on the lapse and quickly put three great shots past Dominik. Coach Donkers was quick to realize that his players needed to be refocused and he called a critical time out to end the second period.
The Huskies seemed to find new life as they opened the third period with Thomas Gallie assisting Chazen on his fifth, yes fifth goal of the game! Two huskies got to spend some time in the penalty box in the third and Embro took advantage of the extra attacker to bring the game within one. Chazen put on a shooting clinic after threading the needle between the Embro defence and then going top shelf right over the goalie. Drew found himself in familiar territory back in the penalty box with two minutes to go. The Edge took advantage of the opportunity and pulled their goalie to give them a six on four man advantage. Somehow the Huskies were able to hang on and finished their first playoff game with a 6-4 victory over a tough Embro team. Good luck tonight Boys as you face another great Embro team!
