Your Oak Grove Cheese Huskies have been feasting on opponents this season including a 14-2 win in their last game but ran into a tough opponent last night in the Beverly Bandits

Beverly has had an impressive start to the season going toe to toe with the Golden State Warriors as the only undefeated teams left in all of sports. Lost in this equation was your Huskies were also undefeated but the pressure of playing a team like Beverly got to them in the first and second period as the nerves were evident. Despite working on puck possession and pressuring the defence on the forecheck in practice we came out a bit intimidated. The coaches were trying to figure out how to relax the players and motivate them to play like they have all year. I think we can all agree that we didn't have to say or do anything. Your Huskies started to prove why they were too also undefeated.

Kohen P. got us back in the game with a sweet feed that sprung Jayden C. on a breakaway which he promptly deposited in the back of the net. After Beverly responded with a few more your Huskies were down 4-1 but just watching the players respond in a positive way is encouraging for the rest of the season. Sam W. who seems to always score timely goals got us back in the game. He is after all using tape he personally received from Erie Otters star and Arizona Coyotes 1st round pick Dylan Strome. I do have news for Sam, you could be using tape from men's hockey 3rd line plug coach Don and you would still score, you're that good.

The coaches are so impressed with the play of our goalies. They are working hard in practice and although games are not as predictable as practice they are implementing the skills that they have learned.

Our legion of boom line was great today with Easton M. playing especially well and hard work from everyone else made Beverly nervous. Remember Huskies you do not need to score goals to feel good about how you played, the coaches are impressed by everyone's work ethic, positive attitude, ability to have fun although are perplexed by their inability to eat cupcakes!

A special thank you goes out to the Knorrs who brought those aforementioned cupcakes for coach Mark who celebrated his 65th birthday yesterday :)

Although everyone displayed hustle getting back to thwart Beverly's attack, the hard hat goes to Jayden C. who did score two goals but received the hard hat for his hustle and great attitude.

Or next action sees us play in our first tournament in Plattsville this Saturday. Tickets are sold out but standing room is available. Go Huskies!
