Regular Season Wrap up!
Well it has been a while since Coach Don wrote an article my apologies for that but Ill try to write down all of the details since our last story.
Your Huskies finished the regular season with a 14-2 record and an impressive 116 goals for leading the league. Our goalies combined GAA is an astonishing 1.43 which has they always say, you can't win without goaltending and we have had our share of amazing saves this season. Our two loses came against an undefeated Beverly team in which we played an ok game and against LL1 who have only allowed 11 goals on the season and we scored 3 of them. It was by far our best game of the season and if your Huskies can play like that the rest of the season, we should see some excellent results. Our only other loss came against a tough Windsor team in the final of the Plattsville tournament. Playing our first game at 7:30am and our final at 7:00pm proved tough for us to handle but the kids showed excellent composure and grit has they battled through fatigue.
The last 7 games after the Plattsville tournament saw us score more than 10 goals 3 times while only surrendering 10. We played some great hockey and the coaches are impressed with the kids attitudes and the progression of their abilities. We are most impressed by the fact that when the game gets out of hand, the kids take it upon themselves to pass the puck more often then they do already and set up players who haven't scored this season.
We have been emphasizing defensive positioning, utilizing skating skills during gameplay and shooting accuracy which I am sure is not the most exciting for the kids but they have been really great at listening and executing drills.
Next up is a tournament in Exeter and then playoffs. Good luck Huskies the coaches are very proud of each and every one of you. You all make contributions to this team. Remember we value hustle, hardwork and respect, you don't need to always score to be great, you are all great!
