Silver Medalists at Creemore Tournament
The boys spent a quality day together in Creemore Thursday Dec. 29 and made it to the finals of yet another tournament. Things got underway with a 5-0 win over Mt. Brydges that sent the boys to the semi-finals in the winners bracket. Trent Smith, just back from a long vacation, sparked the team to an early 3-0 lead and they never looked back. Jackson Holmes picked up the shutout.
Next up was Sturgeon Lake, who had defeated Acton 5-1 in their opening game. This time it was Dawson Hussey who opened the scoring early and Ethan Field who closed things out with a beautiful "behind the back while laying down" shot that conjured up echoes of Bobby Orr! Tyler Kumpf picked up the shutout in this one.
This win propelled the Huskies to the 'A' final, the third time in three tournaments the team had made the 'A' finals. The hometown Creemore Rep squad was too much for the Dogs on this day however. After falling behind 1-0 after one period of play, Jackson Normandeau tied it up with a solo dash down the right wing before Creemore pulled away to make the final 4-1.
