First win of the season for PeeWee LL-1 Huskies
Story written by Dave Ward:

After three hard fought games without registering in the win column, the Peewee LL1 Huskies brought their "A" game this afternoon. The entire team came out skating hard and had that Hungry Husky look in their eyes.

Though the Hespeler Shamrocks opened the scoring, the hometown team never stopped pressing the attack and drew even when Scott Wagler fed the puck to Colin McBride who made no mistake in burying a shot behind the Hespeler net minder. While Shaun Zwosta stoned the Shamrocks on several more scoring chances, the Huskies opened up a 3-1 lead thanks to another goal by McBride and a hard earned goal from the Kropf twins as the slick passing between the two led to Owen assisting Aiden to put distance between themselves and their opponents.

Despite 1 more Hespeler goal before the end of the 1st, the Flood's Plumbing & Heating team went into the 1st break up 3-2. After that second Shamrock goal with 6:24 left in the 1st period, the tandem of Zwosta & Jordan Hopkins closed the door to the Husky net. The crowd was treated to a display of toe saves by Shaun, glove saves by Hopkins and one final cross crease lunge by Jordan to destroy the last hopes the Hespeler team had of putting the puck into the net.At the other end of the ice, the New Hamburg attack led by Mcbride's 4 goals kept putting pressure on the visiting team. Jack Schmelzle also chipped in with a bullet for his 1st goal of the year on a feed from Nathan Ward. The opponents had no answer as Kieran Deep and Isaiah Beldman continually willed their way into the offensive zone shift after shift, pressing the defensive team into turnovers including a superman style pass block by Beldman while his teammates were trying to complete a much needed line change.

Whenever the Shamrocks did pick up a puck and try to attack, the stalwarts on the Husky blueline were there to help their goaltending duo keep the Hespeler team from registering anything else on the scoresheet. With the long stick and big body of Sam Snider muscling opponents out of the scoring area, the tenacity of Dayton and Tanner Arnott hounding Hespeler into mistakes and the smooth skating of Aaron Geiger carrying pucks out of harm's way, there was no way New Hamburg was taking losing as an option on this day! Congrats to the entire team for a hard earned win!
