Last weekend our U12A Huskies had the opportunity of competing in the Regional Silver Stick Tournament in Woodstock.
Both goalies had five amazing games while standing on their heads in key moments of play. The Defence was structurally sound, holding opposing players off consistently and moving the puck smoothly. The Forwards played a two-way game, backchecking and supporting the defence, while attacking the opposing goal, driving to the net for those gritty goals.
The Huskies went 2 and 1 in this round robin tournament. Losing to the Talbot Trail Blazers 3-2, boys had another chance to defeat this 4th-placed ranked team in Ontario, during the Championship Game on Sunday.
The boys started off on the right foot by pressuring the opponent and never giving up. Huskies were down 1-0 after the 1st however, they showed resilience and determination by coming out on top! Last 4 mins of the game New Hamburg was up 2-1 while battling a penalty. Keeping up with Huskies structured hockey, they secured a short-handed breakaway goal leaving us with a 3-1 lead.
Huskies finished the game with an empty net goal, solidifying the Championship WIN!
