Jr Firebirds Midget A are Tri-County CHAMPIONS!
Submitted By Stacey Dineen on Sunday, March 31, 2019
Congratulations to the New Hamburg No Frills Jr Firebirds Midget A hockey team on winning the Tri County League Championships. In a thrilling 5 game series the team battled back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3 games straight against Brampton.

Strong play in the offensive zone, coupled with stellar goaltending and defensive performances including multiple penalty kills led to success in this series. The squad’s hard work and determination led to victory as they remained focused on winning the championships despite physical, end-to-end nail-biting games. A commanding win of 4-1 in the final game sent the message that the Birds were clearly the better team.

The coaching staff of David Black, Ethan Williams, Diego Vitello, Darryl Huras, and Catherine Timmons were impressed with the players’ grit in the face of elimination and for every player to have a role in the road to this championship. Congratulations to players Maverick Habel, Colby Switzer, Aeden Bell, Cole Stannix, Reese Yantzi, Noah Walmsley, Nik Bardouniotis, Alex Wagler, Nicholas Black, Evan Shannon, Brett Gruber, Brad Vitello, Darcy Mosburger, Ryan Vaudry, Luke Timmons, Adam Huras, and Joey Entz.
