90 Foot Shot Secures Lead
Written by Lori Spoltore,

The New Hamburg Atom AE Huskies have their work cut out for them in their OMHA playoff series against a fast skating team from Caledonia.

The Huskies went up two games to one on the weekend winning game three in overtime play.  Jake Schweitzer plowed a fast moving shot along the ice that squeaked through the five hole on the Caledonia goalie, the only shot on net from the Huskies in the entire overtime period.  The visiting Huskies crowd erupted with joy, and breathed a sigh of relief after an incredibly intense game.  Max Evans was electric in net with unbelievable toe saves and even a save against a breakaway.  In official time, the Huskies tied the Thunder 1-1.  Jack Weiler scored the goal with a sweet pass from Charlie Slessor, and Sam Herrle.  Herrle was incredible, and Weiler was determined.  A great team effort from all.

In earlier play in the series the Huskies lost the first game at home 3-1, with a couple of players away, and a late start.  Caledonia came guns a blazing.  The Huskies came back and won the second game in Caledonia 3-0.  Tyler Jackman was outstanding in the second game with many glove saves and aggressive moves.  The defence played amazing with great hustle from Joey Entz, Luke Timmons and Ryan Hillar.  Goals were scored in the game by Noah Walmsley with an assist from Zach Hart, Brandon Ropp, and a 90 foot empty net shot and goal for Scott Carey.  The Huskies had high flying Adam Barr and Sam Herrle making a difference, and tremendous effort from Corson Myers, Charlie Slessor and Aidan Voisin.  The Huskies take on the Thunder at home on Tuesday night.  Go Huskies!
