The Atom AE Huskies went out flying tonight in game 5
against the Arthur Vipers which was played on the road in Mount Forest. The Huskies won the game 4-1 in a fast-paced,
action-packed duel to the finish and now advance to the final championship game 6 tomorrow
night at Wilmot Rec Centre at 7:30 pm.
Off the hop there was a scramble in front of the Arthur net after
terrific passing, and Zachary Hart was awarded the goal with assists to Scott Carey and Adam Barr. Tyler Jackman was
focused and fierce as he made aggressive saves and controlled the puck well
with his goalie stick. Arthur is an
excellent break out team and evened it up early in the second period with hard
work from Bryan Richardson who remains an offensive threat. Harty came back with the 'Zach attack', had
an outstanding game and scored goal number two with assists to Jack Weiler and
Noah Walmsley. Then, Sam Herrle and
Charlie Slessor set up Weiler for goal number three which made the Huskies'
fans in the stands catch their breaths for the first time all night. Arthur began to get into serious penalty
trouble playing a chippy game with their bodies which only ended in trouble as
the Huskies went up another goal by Brandon Ropp, an assist to Weiler. Once again, the DEFENCE (Timmons, Barr,
Hillar, Carey and Entz) were outstanding for the Huskies as they did their job
to keep the puck in the offensive end, and prevented the Vipers' venomous break
out passes as they cut them off by stepping up. Congrats to all three forward
lines for contributing to the scoring and working hard to back check,
especially Jake Schweitzer. The three
stars of the game included Weiler (3rd), Richardson for Arthur (12) and Hart
(1st). Go Huskies!!
