Atom Boys play Santa Claus
Submitted By Bryan Pfaff on Monday, December 24, 2012
The Boshart Electric Atom LL#1 team played Santa Claus by presenting their parents and coaches with an early Christmas present by earning an exciting and hard-fought 1-0 win over Ayr on December 23rd.

The team got off to a quick start as Brendan Arsenault scored only 11 seconds into the game. The quick start may have been inspired by a pre-game visit from their teammate Owen Burns who suffered a broken leg in a game 4 weeks ago but was there to cheer the team on.

This was one of the best defensive games the team has played all year led by the solid and sometime spectacular play of goaltender Ethan Horrell who earned his second shut-out of the season. The team was faced with a short bench as they had only 10 skaters available but they all stepped-up their games. The defensive core of Scott Wagler, Joel Henkel, Tyson Lobo and Liam Buck worked hard to maintain their defensive positions and clearing pucks from in front of the net and the forwards helped out by back checking and limiting the number of odd man rushes.

The coaching staff is encouraged by the progress being shown by the team and the boys look forward to their next challenge as they travel to Niagara Falls this week for a 3 day tournament.
