Bantam LL3 down Ayr Flames
The Delivery Guys Husky Bantam LL3 were looking for an early Christmas present as they hosted the Ayr Flames LL1 on December 20 and judging from the outcome, it was pretty sweet.

It didn’t start out that way as the Flames were first on the score sheet on a power-play effort. But that dramatically changed going into the second period as the Dogs went to afterburner. Their puck possession plays began to offer up chances with Trevor Brubacher and Colton Hussey giving the Flames goalie a fright. The equalizer came moments later from Kale Meyer on a pad rebound from Justin Arnott with Connor Ross helping. The Flames went back to the power-play when Ross was levied a penalty for roughing but redemption was in store. Matt Elliot hit Ross on the fly as he exited the box who then raced in all alone, beating the goalie with a deke. The hard fore-checking was taking it’s toll on the visitors if Kolton Wagler and Mike Thrush’s examples were any indication. Thrush, winning a puck battle, was key to his feed to Arnott who then got the shot away. Brubacher was sitting on the doorstep and slammed in the second pad rebound of the game. With a 2-goal advantage, the Huskies were looking for more K-9 snacks in the third. The puck cycling was too much for the opposition and the pad blistering point shots kept coming. Elliot was once again in the thick of it, drawing off the attackers. Brubacher was the recipient of his timely feed and made no mistake on the play, upping the Husky tally yet again. More chances followed. Arnott on a breakaway followed by Jake Snider , then Elliot, then Ross. The Ayr goalie was busy but managed to hold the Dogs off. Husky net-minder, Liam Saunders, by contrast could have napped in net as his defense thoroughly shut down the Flames offense. Hussey, Tyler Szanto, Ross and Cam Gingerich allowed just 2 shots through 2 periods and ensured the decisive 4 – 1 win. The stellar fore-checking during the game earned Arnott and Thrush the player-of-the-game accolades.
