Huskies Blunt the Embro Edge
The Delivery Guys Husky Bantam LL3 continued their winning ways when they hosted the Embro Edge on January 5. The opposition was keen for a victory against the Dogs having lost a squeaker to them earlier in the season but the Huskies were of the same mindset.

The first frame was a sparring match in which no side could find advantage. Defenseman Colin Shannon was demonstrating considerable skill on the back end, blunting the worst Edge attacks with net-minder Liam Saunders making a few key saves before the period ended. The opener came early in the second when Connor Ross teed one up on the point that Trevor Brubacher deftly tipped in. The Huskies got down to business and chances followed with Kolton Wagler and Brubacher both challenging the Edge goalie. The second marker for the Dogs came when Jake Snider fed Brubacher who was once again positioned in the goalie’s kitchen. His shot delivered the groceries home and doubled the Husky tally. The Edge fought back and Saunders was once again busy with the glove hand, keeping his team in front. The third frame saw the Pack getting their game on with Ross, Kale Meyer and Cam Gingerich all testing the Embro goalie. The sea-saw flow of the game saw the visitors recover and mount a new offensive. Justin Arnott stopped a solid 2 on 1 rush that could have been a deal-breaker for the Huskies as the Edge pressed home their attacks. They finally got on the score sheet at the 3-minute mark as the Huskies struggled to clear the zone. With a player in the box for tripping, the Dogs had to fend off a desperate Edge assault facing 6 attackers when the visitors pulled their goalie with a minute remaining. The Dogs hung on and pocketed the 2 – 1 win with Ross and Saunders sharing the player of the game recognition. The victory stretches the Huskies winning streak to 5 and it was a fitting end to their last regular season home game. With just 3 road games remaining, the boys are hoping to add to the victory side of the ledger and claim fist place in the league standings.
