Bantam LL3 Huskies Too Much For Generals
The Delivery Guys Husky Bantam LL3 rolled into St. George on January 18 to face off against the Generals. The Dogs were keen to keep their winning streak going and were confident this opponent would not be the spoiler.

The Pack came out strong with a lightning thrust but the Generals were resilient and bounced back. Net minder Liam Saunders had to face two attackers that broke through the ranks but he coolly thwarted the effort. The opener came on a turnover in the offensive zone when Cam Gingerich intercepted a puck and drilled it from the blue line to draw first blood. The action spurred the Huskies to find another gear and get their game on. Tyler Szanto, executing a classic breakout fed Justin Arnott who in turn hit Connor Ross as he bolted for the General’s net. Cutting in front, he beat the goalie on a backhand through the 5-hole to double Husky tally. Saunders was again called on to backstop his team as the Generals mounted their own thrusts early in the second. The play quickly turned to favour New Hamburg as they moved the puck back into the offensive zone. Arnott won a puck battle down low and fed Matt Elliot who in turn shoveled it out front where Kolton Wagler made no mistake on the play. The chances kept coming as the Huskies cycling plays wore down the defenders. A pad rebound from Ross, was swatted in by Jake Snider as he invaded the goalie’s personal space. It was clear the Dogs were too hot to handle for the Generals as the third period began. The fifth Husky point came from Colin Shannon with Arnott and Ross getting the helpers on a beautiful tic-tac-toe play. The physical aspect of the game was ratcheted up a notch with both sides incurring penalties. A last gasp for the Generals occurred in the closing minutes but once again, Saunders was on his game as he stoned a breakaway to secure the 5 – 0 shutout win. While the entire team deserves recognition, Wagler secured the player-of-the-game award for stepping up his physical play and creating some nice chances for the team. With just one game left in regular season, the Dogs look forward to continuing the success story.
