House League 4 Beats Drayton 9-2!
The boys certainly ate their Wheaties for breakfast before this game!  The New Hamburg House League 4 squad hosted Drayton on Saturday.  The crowd was treated to a dazzling display of offense and defense.

Both teams were scoreless until about halfway through the first period when Ty Pfaff broke loose and opened the scoring for New Hamburg .  Drayton battled back to tie the game less than a minute later.  That’s when New Hamburg turned on the offense.  Ross McIntyre made it 2-1 New Hamburg with a quick shot that caught the Drayton netminder by surprise.  Pfaff then notched his second of the game giving the boys a 3-1 lead going into the second.

New Hamburg goaltender Travis Forler faced a determined Drayton squad.  He made several outstanding saves and was further supported by his team’s strong defensive play.  One of those defensemen was Quinten Ernst who also showed what he could do offensively by scoring for New Hamburg.  Matthew Smith gave his squad a commanding 5-1 lead after receiving a nice pass from Ryan Cutting and deking out the goalie for his first of the year.  Stuart Lencz rounded out the scoring in the second with a slick shot that ended up in the back of the Drayton net.

Not resting on their laurels, the boys continued to work hard in the third.  Ernst and Lencz each notched their second goals of the game.  Zach Becker showed his explosive speed as he broke through the Drayton defense for a breakaway that gave him his first goal of the season.

The entire New Hamburg squad played excellent, and was a great warm up for the tournament this coming week-end in Clifford.  Keep up the great work boys and have lots of fun!
