Huskies LL3 Too Much For Wildcats LL3
The Wilhelm Financial Midget Huskies LL3 played host to the Woolwich Wildcats LL3 on December 6 and were keen to be successful on home ice. The Dogs came out with purpose and tallied with less than a minute of play elapsed.

Connor Ross made the most of a turnover in the forward zone and rifled it on the deck toward the Wildcat net. The goalie misjudged it and deflected it in, giving the hosts a point in the process. Woolwich tried to recover on the power-play when the Dogs took two minors but the penalty killing was matched by Wyatt Whitby’s attention to detail in net. The Dogs bit again when they returned to full strength. Ross was again the instrument that made life rough for the Woolwich net-minder. Another turnover and another bullet to the net made this a two-goal match going into the second. The Wildcats bounced back and tallied on a roof shot at the halfway point but their celebration was cut short. Owen Houle won the center-ice face-off draw and charged the Wildcat goalie beating him with a wrister to re-establish the 2-goal lead. The visitors were given no respite and suffered yet another goal against seconds later. Houle was again the trigger-man from the slot on a feed from Cam Gingerich. It looked like the Dogs were in control of the game but Woolwich proved to be resilient, potting a second goal on a screened effort, making this contest a heated event. The third period was a test of wills with both sides taking penalties. The Husky defense proved to be the spoiler for the Wildcats. Sean Boake and Austin Hartman stepped up their game, keeping the Wildcats from securing decent scoring opportunities and ensured the 4 – 2 win in the process. The Huskies hope to continue the success as they prepare for the Max Partlo Tournament in Tillsonburg on December 13.
