Good Enough
Today we welcomed the Embro Edge 2 team after a week off the ice and ending last weekend with an unsatisfying tie against Woolwich. We worked hard on winning puck battles and being stronger against the boards in practice, and wanted to put those skills into a game scenario.
We were not a totally solid roster with an absence and some boys obviously playing under the weather. we did fumble around a bit and allowed the Edge team too many unchallenged breakouts turning into too many odd-man opportunities. Our goaltending was decent and we played ok in our own end so that we were never far behind. we seemed to have many pucks lost in or skates or off our sticks but of effort was still there. After trading goals, we tightened up and defended a lead solidly showing good defensive coverage with the opposition having pulled their goalie. Not especially pretty but a much needed and a deserved win. Oh yeah, that Fairhall kid played pretty well filling a role on defence, offence, and defence again taking the TCB Jacket, displaying hands that can only have been inherited! - from his mom I guess..
