Huskies Champs in Stratford Early Bird Tournament!
The Minor Atom A Huskies continued their scintillating start to the season by going 5 and 0 this past weekend and claiming the Stratford Warriors Early Bird tournament Championship.

The final game on Sunday saw the Huskies in a rematch against a tough host Stratford Warriors team, whom they had already beat 5-3 in a hard fought match to start the tournament on Friday. In the final game the Huskies came out of the gate sluggish and were down 1-0 by the end of the 1st period. In the second period the Huskies started to come alive. Mason Woodley tied the game with help from Carter McPhee. Logan Azzopardi  then grabbed the lead for the Huskies when he was sent in all alone on a pass from Brennen Brietenstein. However Stratford managed to push back and tie the game on a power play goal  before the end of the second. The Huskies continued to build momentum in the third period and Woodley again grabbed the lead for the Huskies finishing a feed from Logan Boulton. The Huskies extended their lead to 4-2 when Parker Pfaff set up Azzopardi all alone in front for his 2nd of the game. Azzopardi was able to ice the game burying his 3rd of the game into the empty Stratford net from his own blue line. Brayden Thomson made some excellent saves in net for the win. Overall, the boys played very well as a team and got contributions from everyone all weekend. There were lots of bumps, bruises, sweat and tears put in to earn the well deserved smiles on Championship Sunday!
