New Hamburg Hockey Association is excited to announce the introduction of U18BB for the 2026–2027 season. This addition provides a rep-level, non-contact pathway for our players and marks an exciting step forward for our association. This new offering reflects our commitment to creating opportunities for players to compete, develop, and continue representing New Hamburg at a high level.
As part of our program review, the option of hosting a U16BB team was carefully evaluated. Following a review of projected registration numbers, overall program sustainability, and broader program considerations, it was determined that operating U16BB would require significant reliance on non-hometown players to support a full roster, and as such will not be a program offered by NHHA for the 2026-2027 season. Based on this same review, NHHA determined that offering U18BB represents the most viable and responsible approach for next season.
Introducing U18BB allows New Hamburg to continue providing high-level, non-contact opportunities in a way that supports both player development and program stability, while maintaining a roster composed predominantly of hometown membership. This approach also ensures that players entering their first year of U18 continue to have the opportunity to participate in evaluations for non-contact hockey at a competitive level.
Additional details regarding U18BB programming will be shared in the near future, with evaluations planned to take place in the fall.
