John Bear Bantam AE Huskies vs Dundas Blues 27-Sep-2011

The John Bear Bantam AE Huskies were back in action on Tuesday October 5 playing host to the Dundas Blues. The boys were looking sharp right from the first whistle and had their first point with barely 30 seconds gone. A solid breakout feed by Alex Normandeu to Brady Finn resulted in a charge to the Blues net and his roofed backhand sealed the contract. Dundas recovered and answered with one of their own as the period wound down. They would take the lead early in the second on a breakaway before the Dogs recovered. The Huskies found themselves in a 4 on 4 situation and the open ice played into their hands. Connor Ross got the puck in deep and rifled it into the slot onto the waiting stick of Danny Martin who made no mistake. With the game deadlocked the visitors made a daring breakaway play that nearly succeeded were it not for a quick thinking Tanner Green backstopping the Dogs. Then it was Finn's turn again. An unassisted screened shot through the 5-hole reasserted the Husky lead. They would keep it that way through the next period to take the 3 - 2 win.

With confidence building the Dogs travelled to Elora on Wednesday night to do battle with the Centre Wellington Fusion. Once again it was the Huskies taking the lead in the form of a screened point shot from defence-man Mikey Glauser with MattSchmidt getting the assist. This was a rough and fast game with both teams struggling to find the advantage. The second period saw both sides incurring penalties with the bulk of the infractions being levied against the Fusion. The Pack took full advantage and  tallied on the power-play. Finn's pad rebound shot was picked up by Taylor Von Hausen and driven home.  The Huskies kept the hammer down in the third and the pressure was taking it's toll on the opposition. The few chances they had were easily handled by net-minder Matt Santos who kept them off the score-sheet. The final marker came late in the frame on another pad rebound. Normandeau's bullet from the point was picked up by Robby Mason and promptly swatted in. It was a convincing 3 - 0 shutout win that demonstrated how this team is really starting to gel.
